From charles.johns at d214.org Fri Jan 11 11:42:34 2008 From: charles.johns at d214.org (Charles Johns) Date: Fri Jan 11 12:37:27 2008 Subject: [RMHS] Mustang Update Message-ID: Good afternoon: The first week after break is wrapping up and we are quickly headed toward final exams. I wanted to draw you attention to a few items: First of all, with the start of the new year a new teen driving law has came into effect. This law further tightens the curfew on teen driving. There are additional restrictions that significantly impact teen driving. A full brief from the Secretary of State can be found on our website at http://rmhs.d214.org/ . As a district, we are examining how these restrictions will impact activities such as dances and rehearsals. I will keep you posted as we learn more. Secondly, I know a number of students were interested in being mentors for next year's incoming freshmen class. The mentoring program is called the Might Mustang Mentors, or M3 for short. Advertisements about the application process have been on the daily announcements this week. If your child is interested and hasn't heard the announcements, please have him or her see Ms. Kelly Tobecksen of the Foreign Language Department to pick up an application. Applications are due by the end of first semester. This year's mentors had a great time and made a real difference in the lives of our freshmen. We had over a hundred mentors this year and we hope to add to that number. There will be a training program over the summer to prepare for next year's activities. Finally, I strongly encourage that you and your student visit MyGradebook and review the status of his or her grades before going into the semester. Now is the time to finish and submit incomplete assignments and resolve any questions or concerns. It is much easier to resolves these concerns prior to the end of a grading period. Thank you for reading.
